Increasingly, designers are applying walking-oriented urban-planning ideas to buildings, and some see elevators as the architectural equivalent of the value meal: unhealthy, unsustainable, and bad for social exchange. Provide people with nicer, more centrally located stairs where they can interact with others, some designers say, and they’ll skip the elevator.
So, I’m wearing a zipper hoodie and a zipper jacket, and I attempt to zip the former while talking to my friend Ian. And then this happened.

On the surface, riding the train in a loop sounds like the actions of a crazy person, but I think I get it. It must be hard to work from home, and still have that sense of responsibility that comes from sitting in an office with a bunch of productive people.
I guess one way to add that back in, would be to get outside, sit amongst other members of the workforce, and maybe read the paper, as opposed to just shluffing over to the computer in your PJs.

Interesting proposal for raised bikeways from architect Martin Angelov. The system uses tracks to guide the wheels and steel wires that attach to handlebars and provide a safety mechanism.
I would love to be able to safely cruise over busy intersections without having to wait for traffic lights. I think a system like this could be a great way to promote bike commuting, rewarding those who don’t drive with a faster route through the city.
